The Debating Society in St. Finian’s Community College was set up in 2018 by Ms. Shannon. The Society enters all major debating competitions in the country such as:
Senior Debating Competitions:
- TCD Hist Girl’s MACE Competition
- Philspeaks Secondary School Debating Programme and Competitive weekend.
- Concern Debating Competition
- Junior Debating Competitions:
- UCD Junior Schools Debating Competition.
Successes:
Despite its very recent inception, SFCC Debating society has gained much debating success.
In 2018 / 2019 in the 3rd preliminary round of the UCD Junior Schools Debating Competition our Junior Cycle members came second to Belvedere College who have a very long tradition of debating.
In 2019 / 2020 our Senior Cycle members also came second in a preliminary round to a Belvedere College team.
