St. Finians CC School Bank with Co-Ordinator Ms Murray.
The students of St. Finian’s Community College have launched their own school bank with Bank of Ireland. The school bank has been set up by Rachel O` Hara from Bank of Ireland along with ten students and Ms. Murray. The school banks initiative is to encourage students to set up their very own bank account and to give them the opportunity to save money at the school instead of having to go to the branch to carry out transactions. This is the second year the school bank has bben operatin g. Last year Ms Murray and Brian Howley led the school bank the first fifty students who opened accounts where entered into a draw for an iPad, with Horens Mhitarjans winning the prize. Rachel O` Hara of Bank of Ireland Swords has been trying to get involved with schools around the Dublin area for a number of years. Their main objective is to try to get involved in local schools to develop a relationship with the community and encourage the students to become involved in building their own bank, the bank consists of a Team Manager Jamie Callan, an assistant manager Eoin Kinnear and Marketing teams headed up by Rian McDermott and Nicole Hanratty. There are ten members on the team and they help students set up bank accounts. The bank is held once a week on a Tuesday at 1.05pm in the school. Being [part of the school bank team the students have improved their communication, managing skills and team building skills. The Bank of Ireland is offering rewards to the students including a raffle of an iPad if 50 students set up an account and a trip to a Leinster match with a wonderful opportunity to meet the players on the Leinster team if the school bank team can open 100 new bank accounts.
