We are lucky to be one of only 40 schools in Ireland to offer computer science as a subject and one of two schools in Swords.
Employer bodies have long been calling for the introduction of computer science at Leaving Cert level, to give school leavers a foundation in what is an essential skill for the modern workplace, and it was recommended in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) programme in 2016.
The syllabus aims to foster creativity and problem-solving and develop in students an appreciation of the diverse role of computing technology in society and the environment in which they live.
Politics and Society
Politics and Society aims to develop the learner’s capacity to engage in reflective and active citizenship, informed by the insights and skills of social and political sciences. Our Politics and Society class have set up a Twitter page with their teacher Ms Konopka to share their experience of this new subject. They have surveyed the teachers and students in the school about modern day issues and they have been invited to attend a live current affairs show in RTE. Follow their class progress below
