St. Finian’s Community College Graduation ceremony took place on Tuesday 19th May.
The evening commenced with an opening speech from the Head Boy, Emmanuel Okoye and Head Girl, Sarah O’Reilly.
The Class of 2015 received their certificates from the Principal, Ms Patricia Knightly and Deputy Principal, Ms Caroline Cooney.
The ceremony included songs from the fantastic music class and reflections from each 6th year class group.
Year Head, Mr Donal Garrigan addressed the group reminiscing on the past five years and encouraging each student to reach their potential in the Leaving Certificate and in the path they take after.
The prestigious award for the 2015 Student of the Year was awarded to Laura Quinn (6A) for her dedication and commitment to school life at St. Finian’s Community College.
Josh Benzies (6LCA) received the award for Attendance with an impeccable record for attending school.
Local GAA player Sean Griffin (6A) was awarded the Sportsman of the Year for his contribution to sports teams both in the school and the community.
Jamie Finn (6C) was awarded the Sportswoman of the Year and was commended for captaining the Ireland U17 team to this year’s UEFA Championship finals in Iceland in June.
The ceremony ended with a slide show for the Class of 2015 of their five years at St. Finian’sCommunity College.
A big thank you goes to all the teachers involved in organising a major event like this: Mr. Garrigan, Ms. McKittrick, Ms. McKenna, Ms. Shovlin and Mr. Kerr. A special thanks also to tutors Ms. Sheridan, Ms. Freyne, Ms. Brennan, Ms. O’Dwyer and Mr. Young.
